It is with tremendous sadness we announce the passing of our beautiful mother and grandmother, Dolores Gisela Battiato.
After 85 years of unyielding love for her family, she has peacefully returned home to join her loved ones who have been waiting patiently to see her again.
Dolores, or DD as she was called by her adoring grandchildren, was born on May 5, 1937, to Karl and Josefa Holz.
In addition to raising her children Donna, Laurie, and Kenny, as well as grandchildren Megan and Ryan, she worked at Bell Telephone, Chanel Lumber/WR Grace, and the job she will always be remembered for, school bus driver for the Union Board of Education.
The simple pleasures in life brought joy to Dolores: mowing the lawn at the lake on her tractor, watching her hummingbirds flutter around, or cooking a meal for her children and grandchildren to enjoy.
Dolores had a wonderful ability to find happiness in her daily activities. Her joy for life and sense of humor were impossible to ignore; stories of her vibrance are unprecedented.
Dolores is survived by her daughter Laurie, her son Kenny, her sister Carol, her grandchildren Megan, Ryan, James Casey, Hunter, Julia, Emma, Cassidy, Kit, and Judy, her favorite nephew Bobby, her niece Jill, and many cousins.
We invite you to reflect upon the beautiful journey of our incredible, strong, and dedicated Dolores. Please honor her by loving one another and living your life to the fullest, as she did.
