Donald Hanson, 75, of Millburn, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center.
Donald was born on February 15, 1946 in Queens, New York. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Lucy (Casola) Hanson.
Donald served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He started his career at WR Grace where he worked as a programmer. He then worked as a consultant for various business before settling at Novartis as the Director of IT.
In his spare time, he and his wife loved traveling and his favorite spot was Australia and Hawaii. They also enjoyed taking cruises to different places all around the world. He loved reading, watching old movies his favorite was James Bond and going to the casino to play cards. He kept up with the world news and especially the stock market.
Donald is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen (Stohrin) Hanson. He was loving father of Laura Prizgar and husband Wesley and Melissa Hanson and cherished grandfather of Victoria Prizgar, Brianna Prizgar, and his favorite grand-dog, Portia. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Robert Hanson and wife Caroline, sister, Lucielle Teig and husband Alan, sister-in-law, Katherine Palmisano and husband Steve. Donald was the loving uncle of Christopher Palmisano, Michael Palmisano, Dawn DeVito and husband Donato, Robert Hanson and wife Kristi. He will be dearly missed by his best friend Michael Michalski.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081. An inurnment will be 11:30 am on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ.
