Dorothy J. Szymanski, 91, on December 23, 2011 of Belle Mead, formerly of Scotch Plains and Mountainside. Born and raised in Newark, Dorothy lived in Scotch Plains and Mountainside before moving to Belle Mead several years ago. Dorothy was a secretary for many years with National State Bank, Newark, Pfaff & Kendall Co, Newark and National Oil Co of Newark. Dorothy was active with the Senior Citizens of Mountainside, Sunday School Teacher at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Irvington, Foothill Club in Mountainside, Order of Eastern Star of Westfield, Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Valparaiso University Guild and long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Springfield. She loved ballroom dancing, traveling, arts & crafts, playing the organ and piano, sports, an avid gardener and loved knitting, sewing and crocheting.
She is pre-deceased by her husband Bruno John Szymanski. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Heidi Szymanski and her partner Alicia Rodriguez, her two sister-in-laws, Helen and Lorraine and many nieces and nephews.
