Edward Joseph Malko, Sr., age 94, of Springfield NJ, passed away at home on July 4, 2021. Ed was born and raised in Simpson PA, the son of Andrew and Helen (Demenovitch) Malko. After graduating high school, Ed enlisted in the military, and served during World War II.
Before moving to Springfield in 1981, Ed and his family lived in the Vailsburg section of Newark. He worked for many years at the U.S. Post Office in Newark until his retirement. Ed was a member of the American Legion and the Union County Senior Softball League. He was an avid baseball fan, and routed for the Boston Red Sox. He received great enjoyment by participating in softball and bowling leagues over the course of his life.
Ed was the beloved husband of over 70 years to Elaine. He was the loving father of Edward, Jr., Eileen Shore and Diana Piercey. He is also survived by his cherished grandsons, Michael Piercey and David Piercey.
Visiting hours at Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave. in Springfield, NJ, will be on Friday, July 9th from 5 PM to 8 PM. Interment is private.
