Elizabeth (Betty) Chamberlain of Columbus, NC died peacefully in her place of residence on December 9, 2023, at the age of 93. Betty was born to John and Dorathy Brickell in Brooklyn, NY.
Her family moved to NJ where she attended the Bloomfield school system, then attended Bloomfield College where she earned her Nursing degree in 1951. In 1972 she earned a BA in Health Education and School Nursing from Jersey City College, now known as New Jersey City University.
She became a registered nurse and held the positions of director of nursing at the Reform Church Home in Irvington then moved to the Director of Nursing Instruction for the Essex County Hospital in Cedar Grove which was known as Overbrook.
In retirement she and her husband Tom moved to North Carolina. Even in retirement she continued part time teaching all the way up to when she no longer could, mentoring and teaching nurses at her retirement facility and local hospitals in North Carolina.
Betty met her first husband Don Peirson, in Bloomfield and together they had three children: Lynn Anita, Jane Elizabeth, and Gail Ann. After the two divorced, Betty met and married Thomas Chamberlain who had a son Robert.
She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Chamberlain, her first husband Donald Peirson and her daughter Gail. Affectionate memories of Betty will be held by her sister Joan Dersh, loving children, Lynn (Gary) Cluff, Jane (Frank) Giannelli; beloved grandchildren Timothy Ryan, Erin (John) Pacheco, Frank (Jenna) Giannelli, Jeffrey Giannelli, step-son Robert Chamberlain; great grandchildren Ashleigh and Shawn Ryan, Leo and Rose Giannelli.
