Elizabeth Anna (Lisanna) Wiley Laplante, 85, of Short Hills, NJ, passed away on March 30, 2023. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Wiley and sister of George Schott Wiley. She attended Bradford Junior College (class of 1957) and Miami University (class of 1959). While teaching elementary school in Greenwich, CT, she met her husband Paul, and they started a family. In 1972, Lisanna and Paul moved the family to Madison, IN and in 1980 the family moved to Short Hills, NJ. Upon Paul’s retirement in the late 90’s, they relocated to Williamsburg, VA. Following Paul’s death in 2003, Lisanna returned to NJ.
Lisanna was always active in her community. She was a Docent at Pryor Library in Greenwich, CT, and Sullivan House in Madison, IN. She was PTA president and an active school volunteer for her 4 sons in 3 states, co-editor of Currents Magazine (Jr League) and an active fundraiser for Miss Madison Hydroplane in Madison, IN. She volunteered in Millburn/Short Hills, NJ with Meals on Wheels, New Eyes for the Needy, the Beautification Committee, and with Christ Church as youth group advisor, Rummage Sale director for 6 years and Sunday school teacher. She was an active member in PEO and loved her sisters. She enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, and bowling. She loved to spend her time on walks, doing needlepoint, reading, photography, art, cooking, music, and dancing. Her true passion and gift was entertaining friends and family.
Lisanna leaves behind four sons; Andrew (Marjorie Nelson-Perry) of Short Hills, NJ, Hovering (Laura Brannan) of Portland, OR, John (Karen Kasameyer) of Seattle, WA, and Christopher (Jen Sorkin) of Denver, CO. She will also be missed by her brother and sister-in-law, George and Sally Wiley, of Naples, FL and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul.
A visitation will be held at Bradley, Smith, and Smith Funeral Home, 415 Morris Ave, Springfield, NJ on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lisanna’s name can be made to the American Diabetes Association
A memorial service for Lisanna will be held on Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023 at 11am at Christ Church in Short Hills, 66 Highland Ave, Short Hills, NJ 07078
