Florence Simek, 98, of Cedar Knolls, passed away on October 10, 2022. A funeral mass will be held at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel Church, 75 Ridgedale Ave. in Cedar Knolls on Thursday, October 13th at 10am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Rd. in Whippany on Wednesday, October 12th from 4 to 8pm.
Born and raised in Montclair, NJ, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Spennachio) Apito, Florence lived in Bloomfield, NJ, for 50 years before moving to Cedar Knolls, 25 years ago. Florence worked for many years both full time and part time at C & M Manufacturing in Bloomfield. She was a former member of the Columbiettes in Bloomfield and was an active parishioner at Notre Dame of Mt. Carmel. Florence enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and reading. She was a wonderful caregiver and loved spending time with family and friends.
Florence was the beloved wife of 68 years to the late Rudolph Simek. She was the loving mother of Bernadine Caulfield (Conway), Rudy Simek (Loretta) and Mary Esposito (Domenick). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Michael Caulfield (Kelly), Shana Caulfield (Kara), Corinne Collins (Thomas), Stephanie DiCicco (Daniel), Chloe Dukesherer (Rob) and Julia Sirignano (Paul) and 10 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Florence’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
