Frank J. Corcoran, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2013. Born in Newark, Frank was raised in Irvington, and has lived in Springfield since 1964. A US Air Force veteran, a 2nd Lieutenant, Frank was the navigator of a B17 during WWII. He worked as a quality control engineer for Singer-Kearfott in Little Falls, NJ. Frank was a past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 5560, Chairman and Master of North Jersey Section of American Society of Quality Control, as well as an Usher and member of the Seniors Group at St James Church in Springfield.
Survived by his wife Catherine E. (nee: McNany), children J. Russell Corcoran, MD and his wife Celeste, Teresa A. Tyrrell and her husband John A., D.O., and Carol A. Miner and her husband John; grandchildren Caitlin, Colleen, Carlye, Kevin, Maura and Elizabeth. Frank will also be missed by many other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 10am at St James the Apostle Church, 45 S. Springfield Ave., Springfield. Entombment will follow at St Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit. There will be a visitation on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Bradley, Smith and Smith Funeral Home 415 Morris Ave., Springfield. in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St James Church, or a charity of your choice.
