George F. Reber
Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
George F. Reber, a longtime resident of Chatham, NJ, passed peacefully on August 30, 2022, he was 86.
Born in New York City, raised in Westchester County, NY, he attended Arch Bishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, and was a proud graduate of Fordham University.
George spent most of his career in Advertising sales, working for Popular Mechanics and other publications, and concluded his career as Advertising Manager in the Nursing Division of Medical Economics.
As a younger man, he played tennis and paddle tennis. In recent years, he was a frequent presence on the golf course at Canoe Brook, however his favorite sport was fly fishing on eastern streams and especially on rivers in the West.
He was an avid reader, a master joke teller, a robust traveler, and was proud to have visited all 50 states.
He adored his wife of 61 years and was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren who brought him so much joy in his later years.
Big George was a commanding presence in every room he entered, forging many friendships through his career, hobbies and his legendary sense of humor.
He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kay, his children, Julie Brown (Peter), Kristy Morrissey (Scott), and Bill Reber (Annabelle), grandfather of Olivia, Austin, Arden, Gus, and Max.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church, Chatham Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name may be made to: The Chatham Emergency Squad, 31 N. Passaic Ave. or Chatham Food Pantry, with checks made to Chatham United Methodist Church, memo: Food Pantry, in memory of George, 460 Main St. Chatham, NJ 07928.
