George F. Shuttleworth, of Summit, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023. He was 80 years old.
Born in Columbus, OH, to the late Florence and George C. Shuttleworth, he was an alumnus of the Ohio State University and Northwestern. George worked for many years in the telecommunications field with Ma Bell, NY Bell, Bell Communications Research (BelCore) and Telcordia.
George was a member of the Summit United Methodist Church. He enjoyed singing, Playing guitar and was a long-time member of the Maplewood Glee Club. He enjoyed woodworking and home renovation. He was an avid sportsman, especially tennis, baseball and basketball. He was also a big Yankees fan. He loved cats and spending time with his family in the Hamptons.
George is survived by his wife, Sarah Shuttleworth; his daughter, Andrea Shuttleworth Wittke and her husband Greg; his granddaughter, Sarah Wittke as well as his sister, Jeanne Shuttleworth.
