Gerald Betzner, 87, died on January 19, 2022, with his son and daughter by his side.  He had been in declining health in recent years.

Jerry was born in Newark, New Jersey, on August 11, 1934, to William and Estelle Betzner.  He attended Irvington High School, where he was active in sports and made many lifelong friends.  After graduation, he served in the Army during the Korean War.  When he returned home, he married Josephine Librizzi, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Jerry worked for 35 years for J&J Oil Company in Irvington.

Jerry and Jo had 3 children, Karen, Jill and Jerry.  They lived in Irvington, Union and eventually retired to Lavallette. They had a wonderful life together until her unexpected passing in 2000.

Jerry had a tremendous work ethic.  He had great sense of humor, was a fantastic storyteller and really listened to others.  He had many friends, old and young.   Jerry really loved playing sports, talking sports and watching sports.   We were blessed to know him.
