Giovanni Bambaci of Union, NJ, passed away on December 1st, 2022, at the age of 78, surrounded by family.
He was born in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Italy, a province of Messina, on May 22, 1944 to parents Rocco Bambaci and Rosaria Aquila. Giovanni was the youngest of ten children and had siblings that immigrated to the US, Canada and Argentina. At the age of 25 Giovanni immigrated to Elizabeth, NJ to join three of his siblings.
A cosmetologist by trade, upon arriving to the United States Giovanni started working in a Beauty Parlor where he met his future wife of over 50 years, Gianna. With Gianna by his side, Giovanni went on to win many competitions and style the hair of models.
Giovanni and Gianna were married on June 28th, 1970. They opened their own Beauty Parlor, La Eleganza in Roselle Park and, as their family grew, they moved to Union, NJ. Their sons, Rocco Giovanni and Michael John, were their pride and joys. In 1973 their nephew Rocco came to live with them and was the perfect big brother to their Rocco and Michael.
By and far Giovanni’s greatest happiness came in the form of his 6 precious grandchildren – Ella Grace, Sofia Rose, Luca Giovanni, Giulia Gianna, Matteo John and Alessia Rosaria.
Giovanni was best known for his love for his family, his selflessness, his extensive garden and his amazing dancing at parties.
Giovanni is survived by his son, Rocco, his wife Carolyn and their children Luca, Giulia and Alessia of Madison, his son Michael, his fiancé Shannon and his children Ella, Sofia and Matteo of Branchburg, his sole remaining brother Nino, of Canada, and countless nieces and nephews.
