Helen Devine of Green Village, NJ passed away on September 1, 2022 at the age of 88.

Originally from suburban Philadelphia, she and her husband of 46 years, Robert Coen, raised their three daughters in Short Hills, NJ. Bob predeceased Helen in 2005.

Helen attended Merion Mercy Academy in Merion, PA and received her BS degree in Chemistry from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. She was employed by Smith, Kline and French in Philadelphia in the research labs and later by Powers Chemco in Glen Cove, Long Island. An athlete at Chestnut Hill College, Helen’s love of sports continued with tennis, platform tennis and golf. Helen was loved by all because of her openness and warmth.

An active participant in St. Rose of Lima Home School Association, Helen also served on the American Red Cross Board in Millburn. She was a volunteer at the Blood Bank and active as a Mended Hearts volunteer. Helen served on the Board of Chestnut Hill College alumni Association and did literacy training in Morristown, NJ. The Boys & Girls Club of Nassau County was a recipient of her time and she also pursued study in Biofeedback and became certified provider in the Biofeedback and Stress Management Clinics in Princeton, NJ and New York, NY. She also worked in pain clinics in Newark, Morristown and Fort Lee, NJ. Meals on wheels was another of her favorite charities.

Helen is survived by her three daughters Marcy Coen Smith, Dana Coen Emerson and Helen Coen DelPrete and their husbands, Hunter Smith, Kenneth Emerson and George DelPrete from respectively New Canaan, CT, Mendham, NJ and Fairfax, VA. There are three Smith grandchildren Madeleine, Virginia and Ned, two Emerson grandchildren Abby and Natalie, and three DelPrete grandchildren George (Trey), Cassidy and Meredith. Her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and extended family were greatly beloved by Helen

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 11:15am at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. Short Hills, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA.
