Herbert H. Schulz, Jr. of Colonia, New Jersey, age 82, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was born on November 30, 1939 to the late Herbert H. & Helen (nee: Sefcik) Schulz. Herbert was married to the late Judith Lee Schulz. Surviving are his children, Brian H. Schulz (Colonia, NJ) & Lisa A. Schulz (Sacramento, CA).
Herbert had a natural aptitude for engineering and loved to take things apart to see how they worked.
He loved cars and watching Motortrend episodes which showed people building custom cars, and eventually bought his own classic 1960’s Corvette. His career would be centered around automotive mechanics, working at General Tire for 18 years as a salesman, selling tires for large construction equipment before joining the Watchung Regional School District, where upon retirement, he was recognized for his 29 years of continuous service.
Herbert also loved music and big band music from the 30’s and 40’s. A talented musician, he played the bass guitar in several bands that performed at special events, including one that played polka music. He was an active member of the Elks and Moose clubs, attending many events in various states. He also enjoyed vacationing with his family at their home in Ormond Beach, Florida.
A visitation will be held at Bradley, Haeberle, & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, Union on Wednesday, June 1, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
