Isabel Ann Connelly
02/05/1936 - 04/30/2024

Isabel Ann Connelly (McNulty), 88, entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 30, 2024.

Raised in West Englewood, N.J., Isabel was the youngest of five children. She graduated from the Academy of the Holy Angels in Fort Lee and then received her undergraduate degree in 1957 from the Georgetown University School of Nursing. Isabel went on to work as a registered nurse at Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck — the very same hospital where she was born. She subsequently joined the hospital teaching faculty, where she found joy in helping train the next generation of nurses. Isabel brought this experience with her to Schering-Plough pharmaceuticals, where she built a successful decades-long management career in human resources. A proud lifelong learner, Isabel also earned her Master of Business Administration degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In retirement, Isabel volunteered for several years at Overlook Medical Center and then made her home among a wonderful group of new friends at the Lantern Hill Senior Living Community in New Providence.

Isabel was a straight-shooter and a strong, independent woman. Family was central to her life, and she always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. A lifelong fan of the New York Football Giants, Isabel was also an avid reader of The New York Times who always looked forward to tackling its daily crossword puzzle. Her baking prowess and chocolate chip cookies were legendary, as was the famous yellow tin she always used when transporting those cookies.

Isabel was preceded in death by her loving parents, Isabel (Cain) and John A. McNulty, as well as her cherished older brothers Jack, Joe, and Bill McNulty. She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary McNulty Maher, and three more generations of her large and close-knit Irish family. Isabel will always be dearly missed, but forever remembered and celebrated. We are comforted in knowing that she is now at peace, and her family and friends will always hold her close in our hearts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14 at her home parish of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church in Chatham. Friends and guests are invited to visit with Isabel’s family at the church beginning at 10:00am, immediately followed by Mass at 11:00am. Burial services will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. In lieu of flowers, Isabel would be grateful for contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital— an organization close to her heart whose mission she greatly admired.
