Isabel Erickson Broshek, 92, of Basking Ridge (previously of Morristown and Madison, NJ) passed away on August 20th. Born on September 16, 1930, in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of Thomas and Marion Erickson. Isabel grew up in Maplewood, NJ and summered at Bay Head. She graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in History and worked at Time Life Magazine in New York City.  Isabel married the love of her life Paul Broshek in 1956 and raised their four children in Madison, NJ.

She had a life-long love of travel and, with Paul, enjoyed many cruises to both exotic and historic parts the world, as well as trips throughout the U.S.  Isabel’s favorite vacations included annual trips to Florida, and to Chatham, Cape Cod where they and the family enjoyed a vacation home for many years.

Isabel instilled a love of history, art and reading in her children, traveling with them to many museums and historical parks. She was an avid swimmer throughout her life and, until recently, went to water aerobics every day.

Predeceased by her husband, Paul in 2014, Isabel is survived by her four children – her daughter, Carolyn Smith (Shelby), son, Peter Broshek (Susan), daughter, Jeanne Pelosi (Michael) and daughter, Ellen Heim (Craig). She will be dearly missed by her nine grandchildren, Laura (Seamus O’Loughlin) and Emily Smith, Katie and Kevin Broshek, Christopher, Stephen (Diana) and Joseph Pelosi, Reed and Matthew Heim, and her first great-grandchild, James O’Loughlin, who Isabel was blessed to meet and lovingly hold just weeks prior to her passing . She is also survived by her older sister, Marjorie Albertson from Vero Beach, FL.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21st at 11am at the First Presbyterian Church of New Vernon located at 2 Lees Hill Rd in New Vernon.  A luncheon reception will follow.
