John F. Mallon, 82, of Berkeley Heights, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2013.
John was born on April 17, 1931 in Summit, New Jersey. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mallon and Annie Mallon (nee Garrity).
John proudly enlisted and served in the Air Force during the Korean War repairing F-86 Sabre Jets. After the war, John worked for Western Electric as a repair technician for many years. He loved taking trips to the Sands Casino and Atlantic City and enjoyed Frank Sinatra music. He enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and loved animals, especially dachshunds. John was a family man and relished spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a loving father to his daughter, Susan and her husband Charles Link of Harding Township. He was the devoted grandfather to Bailey, Charlotte “Charley”, and Casey Link. John is also survived by one sister – Ann Beirne, and two brothers – James and Charles Mallon. He is predeceased by his brother – Andrew Mallon and two sisters – Evelyn Riegler and Mary Ellen Weed.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2013 from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. at Bradley, Brough & Dangler Funeral Home, 309 Springfield Ave., Summit, NJ 07901. A Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 234 Southern Blvd., Chatham, NJ 07928. Inurnment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, 136 Passaic Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901.
