John S. Menago, 88, of Springfield, New Jersey, formerly of Millburn, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Born and raised in Oylphant, Pennsylvania, John attended Olyphant High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Fairleigh Dickenson University. John was a veteran of the US Army, who served in the Korean War. He worked as a sheet metal supervisor for Lucent Technology in Kearny, New Jersey, for many years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and football.
John is survived by his loving wife Louise (nee: Branca); his dear daughter Lori Fortunato and her husband Jeffry; and his beloved grandsons, Connor and Christian Fortunato. John is also survived by his sisters Charlotte Menago and Dolores Lesnefsky of Olyphant, PA, and brothers Robert Menago of Monroe Twp., NJ, Eugene Menago of Throop, PA and Carl Menago of Jefferson Twp., PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave. in Short Hills, New Jersey. Entombment will follow at the Chapel at Short Hills, in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, in Millburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of John may be made to Autism Speaks 1 East 33rd Street, 4th Floor, New York, New York, 10016.
