Joseph A. Triesti, a service center owner and certified mechanic, died on Saturday August 7, 2021 at the age of 91.
Joseph was born October 3, 1929 in Newark to Albert and Assunta Triesti. He was a member of the NJ National Guard. At the age of 27, Joseph attended Lincoln Technical Institute and received several certifications in automotive mechanics. He owned and operated Joe’s Service Center in Newark on South Street for over 30 years, progressing from Esso, to Exxon to Getty. He lived in Union for over 40 years.
He was a loving father who is survived by his four children, Susan Duphorn and spouse William; Lisa Knothe and spouse Frederick; Albert Triesti and Philip Triesti; two grandchildren Michael and Lauren of which he was extremely proud; and cherished long-time partner Patricia Strycharz and her loving and extended family.
In his spare time Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family, photography, amassing his camera collection, and numerous adventurous trips and events with Patricia.
A private family memorial service will be held on Thursday August 12 at Bradley Haeberle and Barth in Union. Donations in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to either Children’s Specialized Hospital, Mountainside or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
