Kathleen Claire Capodanno
03/29/1958 - 09/15/2012

Kathleen Claire Capodanno, 54, of Mountainside passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Flowers are welcome, however, donations to Kathleen’s family are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.

Kathleen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, whose greatest pride in life was her children. She had an incredible spirit and was so full of life and appreciation for the little things.

Born in Plainfield, NJ, Kathleen was the third of five children born to Robert Bruce Allan and Irene Ford Allan. She, along with her siblings, was raised in Colonia, NJ, where her family still resides. Kathleen loved the beach, fishing, boating, potato chips, a good pair of blue jeans, and above all spending time with her family and friends.

Kathleen was an incredible person filled with an abundance of energy. While her children were young, Kathleen was a stay-at-home mom, always volunteering and helping their school with various fund-raising activities. Realizing that she could offer more, Kathleen began volunteering for the Lupus Foundation of America, New Jersey Chapter, Inc. (LFANJ) in Springfield, New Jersey, in 2005. Enjoying her work with the organization, Kathleen became the Director of Development at the LFANJ. Later, she became the Acting Executive Director of the Foundation. In 2010, Kathleen resigned so that could take care of her husband who had become very ill.

Kathleen was full of life and always taking care of others, whether they were family, friends or strangers. She lost her father a short time prior to losing her husband. She was there to help care for her father and husband each and every day, and she continued to care for her mother, Irene. She was always generous with her time and with her contributions. She believed in giving back to the community and she demonstrated that each and every day.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 27 years, William, Kathleen is survived by her beloved children Giancarlo and Katie Claire; mother Irene; siblings Michael and his wife Beth (Nicholas and Kristina), Gaye Wenzel and her husband Jeff (Jake), Scott and his wife Diane, and Patricia Allan; loyal pup Joey; and many other dear relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 22nd at 10 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 300 Central Ave, Mountainside. Entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
