Lorraine Isabel Mollen, 88 of Union passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 28, 2023. Born and raised in Newark on July 25, 1934, Lorraine was the cherished daughter of Max and Helen (Popper) Meade. She graduated from West Side High School in 1952 and went on to study at the Berkeley Secretarial School before moving to Union in 1953. She was employed by James Bell Co., Inc. before her marriage to Herbert Mollen in 1954. Lorraine then moved with her husband after he joined the Army to Fort Huachuca, AZ and worked on the base as a secretary. Afterwards they moved back to Union, bought a home, and adopted two daughters, Gay Ellen in 1959 and Kathy Sue in 1962.
Lorraine was a devoted loving mother to her daughters as well as working for many years at the Union County Dept. of Social Services. Lorraine loved going to Bradley Beach in the summer and the Catskill Mountains in the fall and spring with her family and enjoyed spending time with her companion of 20 years, Manny Gilenson.
Lorraine enjoyed playing mahjong, cards, watching old movies and loved watching her Yankee games. She was a die-hard fan, writing in her notebook for every game, the players, the stats and the scores. Lorraine loved her family dogs, Ginger, and Gracie, who always stayed on her lap. Lorraine lived for the last 19 years of her life with her daughter Gay Ellen and son-in-law, Chris. Her presence in the home is what made the family happy and loved.
Lorraine leaves behind two beloved daughters, Gay Ellen (Cybil) Brown and son-in-law Chris, and Kathy Sue Mollen. Three cherished granddaughters Jasmin Kosakowski, Hana Gross and Autumn Gross (fiancé Eddie Tettamanti) and three precious great granddaughters Jaquline, Jesse and Josie. Her legacy of unconditional love will live on for generations.
