Lucy M. Sammartino, nicknamed “Cheea” by her family, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013. She was 95 years old.
Born in Millburn, Lucy was one of thirteen siblings. She was a lifelong resident of Millburn. Lucy spent most of her career in the retail industry, working in various stores.
Among Lucy’s favorite hobbies were crewel embroidery and baking desserts, especially cookies. Above all, Lucy loved to spend time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Lucy is predeceased by ten beloved brothers and sisters. Surviving are her sisters, Sister Mary Daniel of Summit, NJ, and Mary Solazzi and her husband Constantine of Springfield, NJ; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Lucy on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 1pm to 5pm at the Bradley, Smith & Smith Funeral Home, located at 415 Morris Avenue in Springfield. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 9:30am at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 South Springfield Avenue in Springfield. Interment will follow at St. Teresa of Avila Cemetery in Summit. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dominican Nuns, Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary, 543 Springfield Avenue, Summit, NJ 07901, or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
