Maria Nycz, 96, of Flushing, New York passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Chilton Hospital, Pompton Plains, NJ.
Maria was born on October 20, 1920 in Ternopil, Ukraine. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Petro and Varvara (nee Didyk) Kucharsky.
She was a former parishioner of St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, New York, NY. In her earlier years, she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and gardening.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Volodymyr. She was the loving mother to her son Lew Nycz and wife Margaret. She was the cherished Babunya to Larissa Montecuollo and husband Michael and Melanie Hankewycz and husband Roman. In addition, she is survived by a great-granddaughter, Kalyna Montecuollo and great-grandson, Damian Hankewycz.
A visitation will be Monday, December 5, 2016 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Parastas at 7:30 p.m. at Bradley-Braviak Funeral Home, 49 Whippany Road, Whippany, NJ 07981. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 60 North Jefferson Rd, Whippany, NJ. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Fox Chase, PA. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in her name to Ukrainian Scouting Organization (Vovcha Tropa PLAST Camp).
