Mary Patricia “Patti” Regan

Mary Patricia "Patti" Regan
10/05/1968 - 04/12/2024

Mary Patricia (Patti) Regan was born in Montclair, NJ on October 5,1968 to Tom and Ceil Regan, the 3rd of Tom and Ceil’s 4 children.  The Regan family moved to Chatham, NJ where Patti graduated from Chatham Twp. High School (1986) and then Lynchburg College (Lynchburg, VA) 1990.

Patti headed straight to work after graduation and had her sights set on Wall St, just as her Father had done many years before.  The NYSE was her first stop where she worked as a specialist clerk for LaBranch & Co.  When Charles Schwab called for an opportunity, Patti headed off to San Francisco as an Institutional Equity Sales Trader and then to Thomas Weisel Partners as a VP.  During her 7 years in San Francisco, Patti cultivated strong business and personal friendships that remain to this day.

Patti returned to her beloved Hoboken, her home from 1990-present (except for her time in San Francisco) as a Director on the Institutional Equity Cash trading desk for Knight Capital Group.  A strong woman in a male dominated field, Patti excelled using her smarts, wit and fortitude.  She gained the respect and friendship of all with whom she worked.

Patti artfully balanced the rigors of her career with a true joy for life; doing the things she loved with the people she loved.  An avid and accomplished golfer, Patti also loved traveling the world and partaking of the best cuisine.  Her gusto for spending time with people, enjoying good food, appreciating wherever she was and reveling in a quick, dry wit are some of the absolute hallmarks of Patti’s personality. Never one to take herself too seriously, Patti was disarmingly self-deprecating and so quick witted. There were so many laughs when you were with her. To be loved by Patti was to be well and fiercely loved.

Patti, such a strong and loyal friend, loved some good-hearted jabs and “gave as good as she got”, an inherent skill she honed on the trading desk. She never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome in her presence.  Patti was someone who could turn the mundane into an adventure and maximized her experiences like no other.

About 15 yrs ago, Patti reconnected with the love of her life, Alex Giordano and the two were married on March 28, 2024.  Patti and Alex shared so many good times, love and laughter together.  They split their time between Hoboken and Normandy Beach, NJ and very often could be found at the Borgata in Atlantic City.  The Borgata, a destination that soon became one of Patti’s absolute favorites, became a truly special place for Patti and Alex and their friends.

Patti and Alex’s good times were detoured in 2016 by Patti’s breast cancer diagnosis and together, they would endure all the punches this villain inflicted. And yet, throughout it all, there were still so many good times, so many laughs, and so much love and courage.  Their gratitude for ALL whom they encountered on this path, despite their challenges, was inspiring.

Among the good times that served as one of her proudest and happiest, was any chance she got to see #6, Luke DiNola, attackman on the University of Pennsylvania Men’s Lacrosse team, play lacrosse.  A fail-safe, “go-to” to make her smile was to mention #6; unabashed pride and joy.

Patti was taken way too soon on April 12, 2024 with Alex by her side.

Patti is survived by her husband, Alex Giordano, her siblings; Seaneen Carton, Kelli DiNola, and Tom Regan as well as her 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
