Nancy Phelps Holt, 89, of Chatham, Morristown and Basking Ridge passed away on May 3, 2024. A Memorial Service will be held at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. in Chatham on Friday, May 10th at 11am. Friends are invited to visit from 10 to 11am prior to the service.
Born and raised in Warwick, RI, the daughter of Winston and Dorothy (Hall) Phelps, Nancy had lived in Chatham and Morristown for many years prior to moving to Basking Ridge six years ago. She graduated with honors from Purdue University with a degree in Government and was a member of Delta Gamma. She met her husband, Edwin R. Holt at Purdue, and after graduation, they started a family in Illinois before moving to New Jersey in 1970. A Licensed Practical Nurse, Nancy worked at Summit Medical Group in Summit for many years. She was a member of the Chatham United Methodist Church Choir, the Kiwanis Club of Chatham, the Chatham Women’s Club and the League of Women Voters and various PTA’s. Nancy enjoyed golf, tennis and sailing and loved watching her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Nancy was the beloved wife of 61 years to the late Edwin R. Holt. She was the loving mother of Deborah Holt Ahsler (Richard), Jeffrey Dean Holt (Barbara) and the late Edwin D. Holt (Leigh). Cherished grandmother of Philip Ahsler (Lauren), Samuel Ahsler (Amanda), the late Edwin “Teddy” Ahsler, Jennifer Galbraith (Kenneth), Chris Holt, Christa Clark (Andrew), Morgan Johnson (Cody) and Edwin W. Holt (Julie). She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
