Phyllis (nee Pellegrino) Carroll, 86, of Springfield, New Jersey passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the Villa at Florham Park.
Phyllis, affectionately known as Dolly to her family, was born on October 4, 1933 in Newark, NJ and grew up in Millburn. She was the daughter of the late Pietro and Agnes (nee Castagna) Pellegrino.
She married John H. Carroll in 1956 and raised her children in Springfield. Later in her life she graduated from Upsala College and went on to be a Human Resources Manager at Hatch Mott MacDonald. She was a long-time parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills. Upon her retirement, Phyllis actively volunteered for the St. Rose bereavement team and was a valued member of the Life-Lighters.
Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, in 1997, and her brother, Richard Pellegrino, in 1970. She is survived by her three children, Patricia Swanson (Craig); Michael (Sharon) and Robert (Stephanie); seven grandchildren; Cara, Christiana (Kel), Kevin, Christopher, Timothy, Leah, Baker and two great-grandsons, Robert and Finn. In addition, she is survived by two siblings, John Pellegrino and Mary Rosell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place noon on Friday, June 26, 2020 at St. James the Apostle Church, 45 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield, NJ. An interment will follow at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, Summit, NJ. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the St. Rose of Lima Life-Lighters.
