Regina H. Soltys, 84, of Union, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
She was born in Union, raised in Newark, and then moved back to Union where she lived happily for over 50 years.
Regina was a strong and proud woman, speaking of her individual achievements as a homeowner, work professional in legal billing, mother and grandmother. She was a polio survivor (one of many hardships she overcame in life). Her strength, poise and sense of humor amid adversity was a testament to her character.
She was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed family get-togethers, special times with her granddaughter, her backyard garden as well as her pet birds… which was why she was fondly called “Birdy Grandma”.
Regina also delighted in her social group, the “Seahorse Society”, meeting at the Clark pool regularly. This is where she met her lifelong friends Roberta and David Sturm.
She is survived by her loving children Carolyn Herbert and her husband Michael of Wall Township, and Ken Soltys of Union. She was also the cherished grandmother of Mikayla Herbert. Regina is also survived by her siblings, Edwin Lips of Port Charlotte, Fl., and Lucille Ferrara of Bridgewater.
Regina is truly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
