Renate E. Wohlleben

Renate E. Wohlleben, 87, of Union passed away on January 13, 2024.  A funeral service at Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Ave. in Union will be held on Friday, January 19th at 11am.  Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park.  Visiting hours are Thursday, January 18th from 5 to 8pm at the funeral home.

Born in Wuppertal, Germany, the daughter of Hermann and Gertrud Wirthwein, Renate came to the United States in the late 1950’s.  She lived in Roselle Park after marrying her Husband, Heinz, in 1961.  They both became U.S. citizens in 1965 and in 1966 bought their first home in Union.  Renate attended cosmetology school in Dusseldorf, Germany and graduated from the Park Beauty School in Newark in 1961.  She earned many certificates from Revlon and Helena Rubenstein.  Renate was a past member of the Berliner Club, Deutscher Club of Clark, and the Enzian Ski Club.  She enjoyed gardening, caring for her grandchildren, traveling and cruises with her companion, Willi Heim.

Renate was the beloved wife of the late Heinz Wohlleben.  She was the loving mother of Heidi Boehm and her husband Ronald.  She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Derek Waldner, Erika Dewling and her husband Dan, and Kaitlyn Boehm; her sister, Irmhild Pollman; her longtime companion, Willi Heim; and her nieces Tatjana Hann and Ines Forst and her husband, Ingo; and her nephews, Mark Pollman and Alexander Hann and his wife, Dagmar.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Renate’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, https://act.alz.org.
