Robert M. Sabio “Pookie”, 70, of Roselle Park, passed away Friday June 14, 2013. Born in Jersey City, Pookie lived in Roselle Park most of his life. He worked for Accurate Bushing Compny in Garwood before working as a Funeral Assistant for Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home in Union.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:30am at The Church of the Assumption, 113 Chiego Place, Roselle Park. Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. There will be a visitation on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the Bradley, Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home 1100 Pine Ave., Union. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Mary Sabio. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda (nee Lembcke); daughters Robin Giachetti and her husband James, Kristen Talarico and her husband Ralph, and Amy Dreher and her husband Greg; and grandchildren Jarod, R.J., Bianca, Jake, Samantha, Brooke, Briana and Matthew.
Bob enjoyed bowling, and coaching and umpiring Little League Softball. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and NY Yankees fan who loved playing craps at Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Bob also helped out at Christmas Time by dressing as Santa in the Woodbridge and Short Hills Malls, because the real Santa Claus couldn’t be everywhere. A proud Pop Pop, one of the things Bob loved the most was attending his grnadchildren’s sporting events. Bob was truly a good hearted person who will be missed by many.
