Salvatore F. Leonetti, Jr, 89, of Union, NJ, passed away with grace nd dignity on February 3, 2022, at the Center for Hope, in Scotch Plains, NJ after a short illness. He was born in New York, NY on February 12, 1932, the only son of Salvatore and Vincenza Leonetti. He is survived by his loving spouse, June Leonetti of 30 years; two sons with Joan Leonetti (deceased 1979) Robert, Joseph, and his wife Francesca; stepchildren Gardner Davis and Shari Sabino; three grandchildren, Amanda, Ava, and Isabella Leonetti; and four step-grandchildren, Aaron and Jason Sabino and Olivia and Nicolette Davis.
In his professional career, Sal work with the New York City Department of Sanitation from 1964 through his retirement in 1985, and joined the U.S. Postal Service, where he finally retired in 1994. He was a student of history and devoted believer in Jesus Christ. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, playing cards, watching sports and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Raider football fan. But most of all, took great satisfaction whenever the Yankees would lose.
Visiting Hours will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022 from 11 am to 12 pm with a Prayer Service at 12 pm at Bradley Haeberle & Barth Funeral Home, 1100 Pine Avenue, in Union, NJ.
