Shirley Ruth (Burdick) Walters, of Corona, CA, passed away on January 4, 2022. She was 89.
Shirley was born and raised on Green Island, NY and quit school when she was 16 to help support her family. After she got married, she lived in Irvington with her husband, later moving to Union with her husband and children. Although she was strict, she instilled in her children a love of learning and reading and encouraged their creativity. She also taught them to respect others no matter what. She worked hard for her family, sometimes having multiple jobs at one time, enabling her family to purchase a car and a house. After her husband’s death, she moved into her daughter Lori’s house in Alabama. She purchased a house there, but later moved to Corona, California with Lori when Lori switched jobs.
Mother to Lori Zack, Donna Walters, Susan Stapel and Dennis Walters. Wife to the late Raymond Frederick Walters. Sister to Dorothy Kievning, Charles Burdick, Walter Burdick, Clayton Burdick and William Maykish. Sister-in-Law to Vi and Grace Burdick. Shirley had 8 Grandchildren, 13 Great- Grandchildren as well as two great great-grandchildren.
