Teresa Catherine LaPosta (nee Finn), passed away in the quiet of the night on February 19, 2022. She was 87.
Teresa was born on November 6, 1934, in Northampton, Mass where she spent her childhood, graduating from Northampton High School. She then attended Holyoke Junior College and the University of Massachusetts, graduating with a degree in Psychology. Teresa lived in East Orange, NJ for over 40 years before moving to Glen Ridge, NJ. She was recently a resident of Madison, NJ.
Teresa was an elementary school teacher before she stayed at home to raise her children. She was later a social worker and director of East Orange senior citizens recreation programs. She was active in the League of Women voters and was a Brownie troop leader. Teresa was an avid reader, like to create crafts, play solitaire, and to swim, but her biggest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Teresa was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Francis LaPosta. She is also predeceased by her two sisters, Anne Horton and Helen Finn.
Teresa was a loving mother to her three daughters. Patty LaPosta (David Patrick), Dore LaPosta (Linda Brzustowicz), and Katie LaPosta (Tim Hegarty). She was also a devoted grandmother to four grandchildren: James Trevor Patrick, Elizabeth Grace Hegarty, Rachel Francis Hegarty, and Julia Catherine Hegarty. Teresa is also survived by many nieces and nephews in the Holyoke, Mass area.
