Theresa H. Masiello
Beloved Wife, Mother & Grandmother
Theresa H. Masiello, of Short Hills, NJ, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 30, 2013, at St Barnabas Hospital, with family at her side. She was 88 years old. Theresa was born and raised in Newark, NJ, before moving to Short Hills, where she resided for 50 years. She was the daughter of the late Helen and John Bartolotta. Her devoted husband of 65 years is Arthur T. Masiello, former Senior Editor of Dun and Bradstreet International Publications, and their 2 daughters are Janet and Joan. Theresa worked as a medical assistant and office manager for an internist for over 25 years. She was a faithful and long time parishioner of St Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, and contributed generously to the church’s charities.
In her spare time, Theresa enjoyed cooking, gardening and needlepoint. Most of all, she loved her family, daughters and grandchildren, and showed it in so many ways. Whether it was simply talking to them in daily phone calls, making a weeknight or holiday dinner, family barbeque, or sending them gifts and cards for their birthdays, their “Mimi” was always there for them. Her passing leaves her family with a heartache no one can heal, but her love leaves a memory no one can replace.
Theresa is survived by her husband Arthur; her 2 daughters Janet and her husband Jeffrey of Warren, and Joan and her husband Lee, of Manhattan, NY; her dear grandchildren, Jessica, Jennie and Michael; beloved brother Anthony Bartolotta and wife Palma of Bedminster and sister Marge Scholl of Wall Township.
Her strength and courage during her illness demonstrated what a perfect role model she was. In the face of physical challenges and setbacks, she never complained, and always had a smile for her loved ones when they walked through the door. She was their best friend, devoted advisor and favorite cook.
